Gertrude L. Ackerman, age 70 of Pike, died peacefully, Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

Gertrude was born in Freeman, New York, March 28th 1939 the daughter of the late Luther and Eula Mae Manley Stratton. She was a lifetime resident of Wyoming County where she was a home maker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as baking wedding cakes in her earlier years. Gertrude is predeceased by 3 sisters; Mildred and Esther Burrows, and an infant sister as well as 3 brothers; Ronald, Douglas and Edwin Stratton.

Survivors include her loving husband, Everett (Pete) Ackerman Jr. of Pike. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Donna Ackerman of Pike and Karen (Richard) Wilber also of Pike; 2 sisters, Winnie Madison of Genesee, PA and Eleanor (Bill) Gibson of Nunda as well as 5 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Gertrude L. Ackerman may call on Wednesday, November 4th at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main Street, from 11am to 1pm followed by a funeral service conducted by Pastor Robert Farnsworth of Pike Community Church. Burial will be private in the Elmwood Cemetery in Pike.
