Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper has been chosen to host an event celebrating clean water as part of a national series. Waterkeeper Alliance's SPLASH event series will make a stop on Grand Island Saturday, July 29 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Paddles Up Niagara will celebrate "world class paddling and public access" in the Niagara River Greenway. The event, being hosted at Beaver Island State Park, features eco-paddle tours, a vendor fair and paddle safety demonstrations.

A 2.5 mile group paddle during the event will be followed by a party with local food trucks, a beer tent and other activities for families.

"Paddles Up Niagara connects people to water, promotes environmental stewardship, and fosters community development amongst hundreds of paddle sport and environment enthusiasts," Executive Director of Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper Jill Jedlicka said in a statement.

Riverkeeper is working in partnership with the Niagara River Greenway Commission, The Town of Grand Island and New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

More information on the SPLASH event series can be found here.

The event is free and open to the public and guests can register here.
