Sam Mata, 7, says he likes to read about space to learn more about it and Monday he gets to experience one of the greatest scientific events of his life here in Western New York. Hundreds gathered at Buffalo Museum of Science and Buffalo State to Witness the solar eclipse.

Mata’s grandmother, Dana Mata, made sure him and all of her grandchildren didn’t miss this sight.

“When you have an experience and you are able to see something so unique it is so special to share it with your grandkids,” Dana Mata said.

The partial eclipse began here in Buffalo at 1:11 pm and officially ended at 3:51 pm.

Special solar eclipse glasses were handed out at each location. People also brought there own eclipse viewers that they made.

Whether through telescopes, cereal boxes, or glasses -- eclipse viewers were amazed not only at the sight in the sky but also with the turnout of the events.
