A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit filed by a western New York man who died four years after being paralyzed in a police shooting.
Jeffrey Edwards filed the suit against the town of West Seneca before his death in 2014. Lawyers said Thursday it was recently settled for $4.65 million.
Edwards was wounded in a barrage of gunfire in 2010 after a passenger in his car shot at police with a high-powered rifle during a traffic stop.
Town Supervisor Sheila Meegan says the four officers involved were cleared of any wrongdoing.
She says the settlement will be paid by the town's insurance carriers.
