Missing Violin

Missing Violin

NEWARK, N.J. - Grammy-nominated violinist Philippe Quint
was in tears. Not because he lost his 4 million dollar violin --
but because he got it back. Quint left the irreplaceable 1723
Antonio Stradivari violin in a minivan cab at New York's Battery
Park early Monday. The violin spent the remainder of the night on
the seat of the cab, which owner Mohamed Khalil parked on a Newark,
New Jersey street. After a frantic call from Quint, Newark's Taxi
Commission put the word out the violin was missing. Khalil checked
his cab at Newark's airport and found the instrument still in the
back seat. When Quint finally retrieved it, he dropped to his knees
and cried.
