Suspect admits to stabbing woman at Wal-Mart but said he doesn't know why.

Albion, N.Y. (WKBW) - An illegal immigrant from Honduras admits to stabbing Albion woman to death. Luis Rodriguez-Flamenco, 24, said he targeted victim Kathleen Byham, 45, with intentions of steeling her car. He said he does not know why he stabbed and killed her.

Flamenco and two friends approached Byham as she walked from Wal-Mart to her car in the parking lot at 7 p.m. Sunday night. He then began stabbing her repeatedly in the torso with a knife. He fled the scene with the other two men, who police said were not involved with the stabbing.

Authorities said Byham was parked in a well-lit area with a lot of witnesses around. They also said that Wal-Mart cameras captured the entire incident. According to the video, Byham did not know the suspect or have interaction with him before the crime occurred.

"A guy and his wife pulled in front of me and then we heard a bunch of screaming, help, help and when we both looked out there at the same time we thought it was just a group of kids messing around," Witness Kevin Nau said.

Investigators said they have recovered two knives from a field near the store but so far have not officially identified the murder weapon. Flamenco is charged with second-degree murder.

The other two men, who were also illegal immigrants, were not charged but turned over to U.S. Border Patrol.
