A West Seneca woman who volunteered to help with Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico is back on the ground in Western New York.

Sue Williams' flight home touched down just before 11:00 Wednesday night.

She served as a nurse in some of the areas hit hardest by the deadly, category five storm.

She had no idea what to expect when she got to Puerto Rico, and was stunned by what she saw.

"There are still towns where people haven't even gotten to almost a month later," Williams said. "They have no food, are living in houses with black mold forming. And there are people on the street with no homes."

New York's Army National Guard is sending 125 more troops to Puerto Rico Thursday to help in the continuing relief efforts.

Williams says she also hopes to go back to help too.
