A volunteer firefighter in the Town of Tonawanda stands accused of stealing more than $19,000 from his fire company.
Police say Timothy Kler, 35, had been helping himself to the money since January while serving as treasurer of the River Road Volunteer Fire Department. The thefts began shortly after he was elected to the position, according to detectives.
Kler, who has been a volunteer firefighter for two years, is charged with third-degree grand larceny.
He is due back in court on December 14th.
