Town of Amherst, NY (WKBW) -- A pro-life group from the University at Buffalo becomes a target of vandals now for the third time. The group's "Cemetery of the Innocents" display has once again been damaged on the UB North Campus in Amherst.
A small group of UB students held a pro-life candlelight vigil Tuesday on the university's north campus. The vigil marks the end of a week long anti-abortion display of crosses and signs set up by the UB Students for Life club. "Last week we set up 330 crosses. That represents the 330 abortions that happen every day in New York State. We also had two large banners. We had signs for project Rachel...which is post abortive counseling...as well as signs for if you are pregnant and need help," explained Sara Buttita, president of the club.
But, the crosses and signs are already gone...they've been either stolen or vandalized. "Some of the crosses were taken up and they wrote pro-choice with them. So, we took that down. By later on Friday, they took up all 330 crosses and they wrote LOL babies on it. Which is just, you know mocking the club and mocking the death that does occur," Buttita added.
On Saturday, the club rebuilt the entire display only to have all 330 crosses disappear sometime between Monday afternoon and Tuesday of this week. Campus police and looking into the vandalism.
