BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) One of the passengers involved in the crash of a small plane carrying skydivers from the Frontier Skydiving Club last Sunday in the Town Of Wilson, has died. Eyewitness News has confirmed that 53 year old Thomas Medbury of Akron, NY passed away Friday at ECMC.
WKBW reached out to Frontier Skydiving, the group that operated the plane when it crashed. John Huber, the Safety and Training Advisor for Frontier and a friend of Medbury's, told Eyewitness News, "Tom Medbury was an expert skydiver, an excellent instructor, coach, and a great mentor for up and coming skydivers. His personality on the drop zone was unique, and will be sorely missed by everyone."
The crash happened last Sunday, when the pilot allegedly lost control of the plane around the time of takeoff from the Hollands International Airport. Medbury was taken to ECMC with multiple injuries. Four other passengers were also taken to ECMC where they were treated and released.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
There is no word yet on funeral arrangements. Channel 7's Eyewitness News will have the very latest.
