HAMBURG, NY (WKBW) - A popular restaurant owner was killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday night.
David Brown, 43, of Lake View, was killed after a car crashed into his motorcycle at the corner of Route 5 and North Creek Road at around 6 p.m.
"He was the ultimate restaurateur," said Evans Town Supervisor Francis Pordum, a friend of Brown. "He made you feel comfortable when you went there. It's such a shame and shock."
Brown owned Scallywags in Derby.
"Dave was just a good person. The type of businessman that you want to have in your community," said Pordum.
A note on the restaurant's entrance informed customers that the business is closed due to a death in the family.
Hamburg Police said the driver of the vehicle failed to yield the right of way.
Brown, a military reservist, is survived by his wife and children. Funeral arrangements are pending.
