A Buffalo man is dead and several others are injured after a shooting on the city's east side.

Police say the shooting happened just after noon in the 200 block of Carl Street, near East Delavan Avenue.

According to police, the incident began with a fight between two groups of people.

Detectives say the 20-year-old was hit multiple times by shotgun pellets and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say four other individuals, including one female, were struck by stray shotgun pellets. A 22-year-old Buffalo man is currently listed in good condition at ECMC. A 40-year-old Buffalo man and a teenage girl were treated and released from ECMC after the shooting. A 52-year-old Buffalo man was treated at the scene.

Police believe two gunmen are responsible for the incident.

Lieutenant Jeff Rinaldo said the possibility of a retaliation is a concern, so police will stay there throughout the night.
