At the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village they are trying to scare up a few spirits to get you ready for Halloween. Welcome to the Victorian Seance Series, a spooktacular chance to educate mortals about spiritualism.

Joel Dombrowski of Buffalo History Tours kicks the evening off with a slide show about the history of Spiritualism. Visitors learn that it got it's start right near here with the Fox sisters in 1848. Joel says "they began communicating with the dead, or so they told their parents".

In Victorian times, sitting around on a Saturday night trying to communicate with the dead was a popular pastime. It's an experience that psychic medium Glenn White hopes to recreate. "They get to feel what it's really like" says Glenn.

The seances are held in some of the period homes on the grounds. There are five more Victorian Seance nights planned between now and November 4th. You can find out more information at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Museum website.
