School security scare determined to be a hoax

A false report of an armed student put Erie 1 BOCES' NorthTowns Academy into lockdown for an hour Thursday afternoon. Town of Tonawanda Police say a student called police to say another student was armed with a weapon. Police determined the call was a hoax. The school on Dexter Terrace was put into lockdown and the area was closed off to all traffic while police, including Town of Tonawanda SWAT, responded. Parents were told to meet near the former Walmart across from Home Depot on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst.

Town of Tonawanda Police say a student called police to say another student was armed with a weapon.

Police determined the call was a hoax.

The school on Dexter Terrace was put into lockdown and the area was closed off to all traffic while police, including Town of Tonawanda SWAT, responded.

Concerned parents were told to meet near the former Walmart across from Home Depot on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst to get updates from police.
