There are some big things happening at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Really big- if you are looking at the huge card table and chairs that stand almost ten feet tall and are part of the "Out of Sight of the Senses" installation. It incorporates pieces that you can hear and works that you literally have to walk through.

There is big excitement this week is over Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and the exhibit of his work called "The Deep End of The Universe." Murakami is one of the world's hottest contemporary artists. His work is colorful and wild, a cross between fine art and Japanese Anime.

The museum's Chief Curator Cathleen Chaffee says that Takashi Murakami "is kind of a rock star". She says the artist's work is accessible to all, adding "It's something that moves them and takes them on a journey."

The artist was on hand for the opening. Known for his flamboyant outfits, he showed up in colorful garb. Just like a rock star, he signed autographs, posed for pictures, but even with all that attention, Takashi says with a smile "not rock star."

The two installations will be on view through January 28th. You can get more information at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery website.
