Angel Swan was probably destined to end up in the bird biz with a last name like "Swan". She owns Wild Birds Unlimited in East Amherst and has this advice for anyone looking to get into backyard bird feeding and watching "the first thing you want to do is invest in a feeder and then you are going to want to keep in mind how am I going to squirrel proof this feeder."

This is Angel's busy season with wild birds migrating back to Western New York and customers flocking to her store. She says that while there are hundreds of varieties of birds that can be found in this region, there are two favorites, "the favorite for a lot of people are the hummers, but our resident favorite is the cardinal, everybody wants that gorgeous male northern cardinal in their yard."

Angel points out that not all of her customers are trying to discourage squirrels from visiting their yards, and says "we have a lot of customers who love having squirrels". That's why they sell squirrel feeders at Wild Birds Unlimited too.
