Teenage boy charged with felony for pellet gun shooting

A 14-year-old boy shot an acquaintance in the head with an air rifle, sending the victim to the hospital for several with serious head injuries, according to the Erie County Sheriff's Office. The 14-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with assault in the 2nd degree recklessly causing serious injury with a weapon, a class-D felony.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened on June 22 and the victim, also a 14-year-old boy, was taken to Women and Children's hospital where he was treated for several days. Detectives arrested the suspect on July 18, following an investigation.

The 14-year-old defendant was released on appearance tickets returnable to Erie County Family Court.
