Teen admits to holding up bingo volunteers

A Buffalo teen has admitted to holding up a team of bingo volunteers at gunpoint and causing injury to two of them as they tried to subdue her.

Deandrea Franklin, 17, pleaded guilty Friday in Erie County Court to second-degree attempted robbery.

Franklin walked into a classroom at Cardinal O'Hara High School in the Town of Tonawanda on May 6th where volunteers were tabulating bingo proceeds and pointed a handgun at five volunteers. 

The volunteers were between the ages of 63 and 71.

One volunteers suffered broken ribs and was bitten while trying to restrain Franklin. Another volunteer suffered a large bite wound.

Franklin faces up to seven years in prison when she is sentenced on July 11th.
