The Lion King national tour will be taking center stage at Shea's Performing Arts Center on December 13th. Before "curtain up" 7 Eyewitness News was allowed an inside look into the production.

The Lion King has performed to over 90 million people worldwide and has recently undergone some changes.

"It's brighter and more technically savvy" Nia Holloway, the actress playing Nala said.

The production had been rehearsing at the Landmark Theater in Syracuse for eight weeks after a six week break. The cast and crew need a longer rehearsal time because of how large scale the production is.

There are over 230 puppets used throughout the production. They need to interact with the actors as one for the production to be believable.

"You want to try and make it all become one, and I think when it becomes one that's when you get the double effect where people forget they're actually watching real people" Holloway said.

The Lion King will run at Shea's from December 13th to January 7th.
