Spectrum and the History Channel held a special event today in Lockport called “Take a Veteran to School Day.”

More than a dozen military veterans from the 107th Attack Wing based at the Niagara Falls Air National Guard Base along with Veteran and current New York State Senator Rob Ortt made presentations to 150 students at Lockport High School.

The veterans talked to several government classes about their experience in the military and questions students had.

“It’s important to talk to the high school students because they are at a very delicate stage in their lives, not sure where they are going. I knew when I was back in high school I wasn't exactly sure which path I was going to take,” SSG., James McCormick Aerospace Technician with 107th Attack Wing.

“Take a Veteran to School Day” is the History Channel’s outreach program. It connects veterans from all walks of life with students in schools and communities across the nation.
In 2017, thousands of schools in all 50 states are expected to participate.
