Members of the community marched in solidarity Tuesday morning with some of the undocumented workers taken into custody last week.
Faith leaders, People United for Sustainable Housing (PUSH Buffalo) and others supporters walked with Sergio, Wilmer, and Antonio - three of the workers arrested from four local Mexican restaurants raided last week by federal agents.
Signs on the steps of the Trinity Church on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo read "Dignity Not Deportation" and "I stand with the Buffalo 25" - representing the 25 undocumented workers currently facing deportation.
According to PUSH, three of the 25 individuals detained are being held in detention centers, away from their families. PUSH also says at least six under supervision with ankle bracelets. A majority of the 25 do not have identification, money or any of their belongings.
The marchers feel the call for deportation is an injustice. They say they will continue to march to support the remaining workers who have immigration hearings on Thursday. They also say they are raising money to help the families of the workers as they await their fate.
