Lewiston Police responded to a call for a stabbing on Indian Hill Road in the early hours of Monday morning.

When police arrived at the location, they say they found Evan Stafford, 27, lying in the driveway. Stafford stood up and police saw several cuts on his torso.

As Stafford was being treated for his injuries by ambulance personnel, Raymond Printup, 27, the suspect, came out of the woods nearby and surrendered to police, according to officials. Officers say they took him into custody without any trouble.

Stafford was taken to St. Mary's hospital and later transferred to Erie County Medical Center, according to police.

Printup was arraigned at Lewiston Court on an assault charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond.

Niagara County Sheriff's Department and New York State Police were also on scene.
