Strong winds may have fanned the flames at a fire on Winspear Avenue in Buffalo's University Heights neighborhood early Thursday morning.

The fire started around 1 a.m. at 106 Winspear Avenue. A second alarm was called shortly after. The fire caused exposure damage to a neighboring house at 104 Winspear Avenue.

A Buffalo Fire Department dispatcher tells 7 Eyewitness News it's unclear if the house was vacant, and that squatters may have been living inside. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and damage is estimated at $80,000 to the main building. It's unclear how much damage to the neighboring home may cost. Firefighters have not reported any injuries.
