Social media helped police nab a suspected burglar in West Seneca.

Police said they arrested Danny Butcher Monday in connection with a string of burglaries in and around town. Officers said they released his photo on the department's Facebook page and Twitter feed to see if anyone could identify him

Within 24 hours, police said the Facebook post reached over 10,000 people, including an employee of a local fast food restaurant that called detectives to report Butcher was currently in the restaurant. Detectives arrived and arrested Butcher.

Further investigation revealed Butcher also possessed several items stolen in other area burglaries, police said.

Butcher faces charges of possession of stolen property and trespass. He was arraigned and sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is due back in court at a later date.
