The Seneca Nation of Indians is speaking out against a proposal for a wastewater treatment project on the Allegheny River.

The president of the western New York tribe, Todd Gates, is scheduled to detail his concerns at a news conference with elected officials from New York and Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

Epiphany Allegheny LLC is seeking approval for a plant on the river in Coudersport, Pennsylvania that would process wastewater produced as a byproduct of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, for natural gas.

The news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Seneca offices in Salamanca.
