Warmer weather means you may be grabbing your paddles and enjoying Western New York's waterways!

You've got so many options— from pedal boat, paddle boards to kayaks! To make sure you and your family have fun and stay safe, we met up with kayak experts at Elevator Alley Kayaks.

Make sure you're bringing everything you need out on the water: drinking water, sunscreen, a communication device (phone in a waterproof case, radio) and appropriate clothing. Dress like you're going to the beach; lightweight, breathable clothing, hats, sunglasses, water shoes.

Try the buddy system, always go out on the water with a friend if you can or let people know where you'll be and what time you're expected back on shore.

Make sure your life vest is snug and fits correctly. Use the right sized kayak and paddle for your height and weight.

You can explore on your own by renting a kayak or take a guided tour!
