HAMBURG, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Crews worked to tear out part of the traffic circle round-a-bout at Big Tree Road and South Park in Hamburg Tuesday morning.
A man was killed there in October 2011.
Aaron Braun lost his father in a crash at that circle. He told Eyewitness News, "It's something that doesn't go away. There is a lot of thinking, a lot of heartache, especially in my family."
Aaron says he feels the pain of losing his father everyday. He was killed when his car hit large rocks that were once in the circle, flipped over, then caught on fire.
"If it wasn't for that circle, he would still be with me right now and I would've been able to see him on fathers day, all day it was running through my mind," Braun said.
As crews work to tear down parts of the circle, Braun says he feels some relief and a small amount of closure. "There is nothing I can do about my father right now. Except for this. This is probably the best thing for other people. That somebody else doesn't lose their dad, their parents, or someone they love," Braun said.
Eyewitness News reached out to the Hamburg Town Supervisor, and are awaiting comment on why the roadwork is underway.
