AMHERST, NY (WKBW) A closure of all westbound lanes on the Youngmann Expressway (I-290) between Exits 3 and 4 caused extensive traffic delays Saturday morning.
The Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition (NITTEC) reports the lanes were shut down before 2:30a.m. on Saturday due to downed power lines. They were reopened after 2p.m. following repairs to the lines.
--UPDATE--
A spokesperson for the Amherst Police Department tells Eyewitness News a motor vehicle accident caused the power lines to drop onto the expressway. Two cars collided near the Niagara Falls Boulevard exit, sending one car careening into a utility pole. No injuries were reported, and any names and possible charges have not been released.
