Plans have been announced for the eighth annual Labatt Blue Buffalo Pond Hockey Tournament at RiverWorks.
The 2015 tournament will feature three full days of action at the Ganson Street facility between February 20-22. Nearly 240 games will take place involving 142 teams and around 1,000 players. There will be 12 divisions, including 11 for men’s teams and one for women’s teams.
Registration opens Wednesday at noon and runs through December 31 at 11:59 a.m. Teams must register online at: www.LabattBluePondHockey.com
Teams will then be divided into respective divisions and selected via random lottery draw. The selected teams will be announced on the tournament website on January 1.
Doug Swift, a partner with the Riverworks complex, says the complex will see more use than just the hockey tournament.
"We've just announced yesterday some open skates we're going to be doing during the summer."
Swift says in addition to the open skates, the 50,000-square-foot facility will be used for lacrosse, indoor hockey, and other types of amateur athletic events.
