Among the 103 properties still on the list for Saturday's Allegany County Tax Sale are three Wellsville properties that were formerly owned by fugitive Paul Ceglia (through Greenspring Properties, LLC) or his mother, Vera Ceglia.

Two locations of property formerly owned by Vera Ceglia are 33 E. Genesee St., an apartment building assessed at $110,000, and 1 Eaton Court, assessed at $22,000, according to information on the tax sale page on Allegany County website.

Paul Ceglia fled from Wellsville with his family last year. Ceglia faces criminal charges of mail fraud and wire fraud after claiming he owns anywhere from 50 to 85 percent of Facebook. Vera Ceglia and her husband, Carmine, sold all of their possessions in the United States and moved to Ireland after their son disappeared in 2015, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

County Treasurer Terri Ross said there is one property formerly owned by Greenspring left over from the 2015 tax sale. It's located on Hanover Hill in Wellsville and the assessment is $3,800.The tax sale will be at Genesee Valley Central School. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and the auction is expected to start at 9:30 a.m. Ross said there is general information located on the website at www.alleganyco.com or in the auction catalog.

"The catalogs are available at our office or from the town of Wellsville Clerk's office. If there are additional questions we are available in the office from 8:30 to 5 daily," Ross said.Wellsville Village Code Enforcement Officer Jo Fenske talked about the East Genesee Street and Eaton Court properties formerly owned by Vera Ceglia.

"Neither of the properties is condemned," she said. "I believe there is one tenant still living in that building (the apartment building on East Genesee)."Fenske said she thinks there's been a lot of interest from potential bidders in the East Genesee Street property. We had prior situations on both (the East Genesee and Eaton Court properties) where we had a tenant who had an issue and they came to the code enforcement officer to work with the landlord," Fenske said. "That was when Vera and Carmine (Ceglia) were here."They (the properties) might have been in Vera's name, but I think Carmine was the one who went out and made the repairs," she recalled. "He (Carmine Ceglia) was cooperative.
