Police are issuing a warning about a new scam they're seeing in Genesee County.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office says a woman in Elba was approached by a man when she was leaving her home. He handed her a manila envelope, and told her he was from Bank of America. He told her that her mortgage was in default, and that she had to call the number in the envelope.
Police say the man was driving a silver mini van. They say Bank of America is aware of the situation and is looking into the potential scam.
Anyone who has any information on the scam is asked to call 911.
