Popular pizzeria closes without warning

Lumber City Pizza Company, a popular restaurant in North Tonawanda, has suddenly closed.

A sign on the door of the Erie Avenue pizzeria - which was the longtime home of Pizza Junction - reads "Lumber City Pizzeria is closed. Thank you for your patronage."

Phone calls to the restaurant Wednesday afternoon went unanswered.

The restaurant's Facebook account, however, did respond to a comment from a woman who said she had recently put down a $50 deposit for a baby shower.

In a reply, the restaurant told the woman to private message her name and address to the Lumber City Pizza Facebook page in order to receive a refund.
