Kennedy Declares Victory in State Senate Primary

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The final count is in and State Senator Tim Kennedy said he has won the Democratic Primary for the 63rd State Senate seat.

Two weeks after the Primary was held, the Erie County Board of Elections said Kennedy is 186 votes ahead of challenger Betty Jean Grant.

Kennedy made the declaration late Friday afternoon, even though the final count is unofficial and the Board of Elections has yet to certify the numbers.

Betty Jean Grant did not return phone calls seeking comment.
