Police: thieves targeting Hondas in Town of Tonawanda

Town of Tonawanda Police are warning residents of a rash of larcenies committed against Honda vehicles.

Thieves are targeting the cars and stealing rims and tires from Honda Accords and Civics, according to the department.

Anyone driving these model cars are advised to park vehicles in garages or "areas that would hinder the removal of wheels".

According to a 2015 report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Honda Accord and the Honda Civic are the two most stolen vehicles in the nation as well as in New York State.

Honda Fits have also been targeted by thieves for its tires and rims across the country recently.

Police are asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling the department at 876-5300.
