The Chautauqua Sheriff's Office has released the name of the missing boater who is now believed to have drowned.
Ricky L. Whipple, 48, of Conewango Valley, NY was was tubing behind a boat on the lake on Saturday when his tube flipped. He fell off and didn't resurface.
According to Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace, the call came in just before 7pm on Saturday. The search was concentrated at the north end of the lake near Chautauqua Institution.
Gerace also added Whipple was not wearing a life jacket.
Authorities used a helicopter, water emergency team and other dive crews to look for the man.
