A Dunkirk man lured his victim out of a home before forcing him back inside, tying him up, assaulting him and stealing items from his home, police say.

Officers were called to a home on King Street in Dunkirk Tuesday after the home invasion. Police say the victim was lured out of his home before 36-year-old Edwin Alicea forced him back inside.

Police say Alicea bound and gagged the victim while threatening him with a firearm. He then allegedly assaulted the victim, smashed a flat screen television and stole the victim’s cell phone and video game system.

"This was a viscous, violent crime where the defendant knew his victim and a matter of vengeance was taken out on an unsuspecting victim," said Dunkirk Police Capt. Kenneth A. Kaus.

The victim managed to free himself and fled to a relative’s home to call police. He was taken to Brooks Hospital for head, face arm and leg injuries.

Police tracked Alicea to the Buffalo area, where he was arrested Wednesday. He is charged with first degree burglary, first degree robbery, first degree criminal use of a firearm, second degree criminal possession of a weapon, second degree assault, first degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth degree criminal mischief.

"All the officers involved did a great job in bringing this case to a conclusion so quickly,"  said Capt. Kaus.
