A Franklinville man is locked up, accused of several criminal sex acts.
New York State Troopers responded Monday to a domestic call on Route 16 in the Town of Franklinville.
Troopers say 27-year-old George Merrell was hitting and choking another person. Investigators concluded that Merrell performed criminal sexual acts on the victim, and prevented the victim from calling 911.
Merrell is charged with Criminal Sexual Act in the 1st Degree, Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree -- all felonies -- as well as Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Objection of Breathing -- all misdemeanors.
Merrell was arraigned at the Town of Machias Court and was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 property bond.
