State police have arrested five people after a sobriety checkpoint in the Town of Cheektowaga.  The checkpoint was set up on Harlem Road, Wednesday night.

Lisa Wood, of Amherst, was charged with Aggravated DWI.  State police say she had a blood alcohol content of .18, more than twice the legal limit.

Kristopher Jankowski, of Cheektowaga, was charged with DWI.  Police say Jankowski had a BAC of .08.

19-year-old Chris Brown, of Buffalo, was arrested for having over three ounces of marijuana.  Police say they detected the odor of marijuana in his car when they stopped him.

Spencer May, of Cheektowaga, was arrested for having marijuana.  Police say he had less than 25 grams of marijuana with him.  May is charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Jasmine Otero, of Buffalo, was also arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.  Police say she had less than 25 grams of marijuana with her.

All are due back in Town of Cheektowaga Court next month.

“Tonight is one of the biggest drinking nights and we would like to have everyone arrive home safely,” said Lt. Steven Berecz of the Cheektowaga Police Department.

Police are offering simple tips, like have a designated driver or call a cab.
