The countdown is underway.

In just a matter of days, a hotline dedicated to helping those impacted by addiction is set to go live.

On August 1st, Erie County residents can call the number (716) 831-7007 to access a live, trained counselor who can provide referral information and support for those battling drug addiction.

The 24/7 hotline comes at a time when many communities in Western New York are seeing spikes in opiate addiction.

It will be operated by trained counselors from Crisis Services, an organization that has run hotlines for decades for families facing many issues.

“They will get a live counselor who will ask them what their current situation is,” Rachel Morrison with Crisis Services tells 7 Eyewitness News.

“We will then link them with different resources in the community, outpatient addiction services, as well as just giving them support and different information they will need in the community.”
