When you're 92 years-old, you need a little touch up every now and then.

And that's what's happening 24 stories above ground atop the historic Liberty Building in Downtown Buffalo.

Crews are in the process of building scaffolding around the west-facing Statue of Liberty.

Over the next month, they will be doing water proofing and other preventative maintenance on the 26-foot statue to keep it in tip-top shape for years to come.

The statue facing east does not need any repairs or restoration work at this time, according to a spokesperson for Main Place Liberty Group, the building's owner.

The Liberty Building is the fifth tallest building in the Queen City.

The lights that flash from the torches of the twin statues were originally designed to be seen from 10 miles away in each direction, and serve as a symbol of Buffalo's strategic location on Great Lakes.
