Investigators in Olean arrested a man suspected dealing crack cocaine Thursday in the city, after an investigation lasting several months.

A surveillance team waited until 49-year-old Berry K. Armprester left a building on 12th Street, then notified the Olean Police Department's Street Crimes Unit. Officers with the unit pulled over Armprester's vehicle on Irving Street and took him into custody for criminal sale of a controlled substance.

After arresting Armprester, investigators searched his vehicle and located a bag containing "a small amount" of cocaine. Armprester was additionally charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Armprester was taken to the Olean Police Department for booking, then transferred to Cattaraugus County Jail to be held pending arraignment.

The Street Crimes Unit spent several months collecting evidence in Armprester's case before delivering the evidence to the Cattaraugus County District Attorney's Office. A grand jury then chose to indict Armprester, leading to an arrest warrant.
