It's news many New Yorkers will be happy to hear: for a third straight week, the number of laboratory-confirmed influenza cases has fallen, according to health officials.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said the past week has seen a 42 percent drop in the number of cases reported to the state Department of Health, and a 35 percent decrease in the number of New Yorkers hospitalized due to the flu.

Overall, numbers from labs show more than 111,000 confirmed cases of the flu in New York this season.
