The Niagara County Community College board got an earful from angry taxpayers Tuesday night.

Those people want to know how the board could vote against suspending the college president at the center of an internal and FBI investigation into allegations of bid rigging at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.

NCCC faculty put some tough questions to board members about their handling of the scandal and about how these allegations of bid-rigging happened in the first place.

Faculty members were essentially saying "we told you so" after their votes of "no confidence" against Klyczek went unheeded a few years ago by the board.

“This pattern of behavior now requires you, the board of trustees, to confront difficult but necessary questions about the administration of the current president, about the effects his style of management have had on the faculty, staff, students, climate, culture and public reputation of our college,” said NCCC professor Amanda Pollard.

Her speech drew a loud applause from the standing-room-only audience.

Board members released a statement saying they will “review all aspects of college operations” to make sure they follow SUNY best practices.

Insiders say the dynamic of board meetings have already changed.

They say the board is now clearly in charge of these meetings and some members, for the first time in a long time, are holding the president accountable for what he says and does.
