The City of Buffalo has been overcharged at least $1 million by National Grid, according to City Comptroller Mark Schroeder.
The audit discovered 15 disputed charges to the city's utility bills, including one for $578,000 for 3,500 street lights that don't exist.
Officials from National Grid say that particular error was due to a data entry mistake and has since been fixed.
National Grid did issue a statement saying the money will be paid back in full.
