Mother faces up to 25 years for the death of her infant

The mother accused with the death of her one-year-old daughter due to abuse has been found guilty of manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.

Closing arguments were presented Tuesday morning in the case involving the death infant Mila Whipple by her accused mother, Leslie Finch. The defense requested a non-jury trial and the judge came to a verdict shortly after the closing arguments.

Finch was found guilty of first degree manslaughter, second degree manslaughter, reckless assault of a child, second degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Finch faces up to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced on February 3 in Cattauraugus County Court.
