Investigators say a Warsaw man was high on drugs when he caused a fiery crash involving another vehicle with a mother and two children inside.

According to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office, Joseph Plotz, 57, didn't stop at a stop sign on Route 238 in the town of Orangeville and pulled in front of an oncoming pickup truck.

Eyewitnesses helped the mother and two children inside the pickup escape just before the truck became engulfed in flames. They were not seriously hurt.

Detectives say Plotz had a number of drugs in his system at the time. He is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs, and failure to yield right of way at a stop sign.
