BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Thanksgiving is just days away and many in Western New York are either preparing for a busy week of travel or anticipating a guest from out of town.
According to new statistics more folks than ever will be hitting the roads and the skies this holiday season.
The airline industry trade group Airline 4 America says around 25.3 million passengers are expected to travel by air this holiday season.
The group estimates this is the highest number of air travelers since the recession in 2008.
Many travel agencies consider the holiday travel season to run from November 20th until December 1. An estimated 1.4-2.7 million passengers will travel by air each day.
A passenger 7 Eyewitness News spoke with at Buffalo Niagara International Airport says her travel day was pretty tame, but it’s only a matter of time before the travel rush begins.
Experts say it’s not just air travel that on the rise, an increased number of travelers will also be hitting the road. AAA says driving is still the most popular mode of transpiration for those traveling this time of year.
