In a raid involving several agencies, authorities seized several hundred grams of fentanyl, the deadly opioid, from a home in Depew Wednesday morning. The illegal drug was meant to be shipped to the home through the USPS.

Fentanyl is a potent and deadly opioid, commonly found mixed in with heroin or even sold as heroin. That amount of the drug has the potential to kill hundreds of individuals, according to authorities.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service, New York State Police, Erie County Sheriff's Office and Depew Police were all involved in the raid as the packages were delivered.

The drug was being delivered to a home on Sable Palm Drive in Depew and the massive law enforcement presence was a shock to neighbors.

"That shouldn't even be going on," Lyndsey Lanni, who lives on Sable Palm Drive, said. "Especially in this neighborhood. It's a fairly decent neighborhood. Everybody is super friendly and nice. I just can't believe that."

Homeland Security is leading the investigation and is releasing no information at this time.
