Today Maryvale High School in Cheektowaga named it's auditorium after one of its most famous alums, William E. Fichtner.

Fichtner is an actor, director, and writer. He has played more than 50 roles in movies and television including in "Prison Break" and "The West Wing." He recently produced, directed, and shot his own movie called "Cold Brook" in Western New York.

School leaders said it was only fitting to recognize this successful graduate.

"He's a proud Maryvale graduate and we wanted to find a way to both honor him and acknowledge our energy in our program," Superintendent of Maryvale, Joseph  D'Angelo said.

The auditorium is now called "William E. Fichtner Performing Arts Center." About 600 students, old friends, and teacher gathered inside for the dedication ceremony.
