The North Tonawanda man who set a volunteer firefighter's home on fire is headed to prison.

A judge sentenced Matthew Jurado Friday to ten years behind bars.

Jurado set fire to Ken Walker's apartment on Oliver Street last summer. Investigators believe Jurado was a former firefighter at the same department as Walker, and was upset about his removal.

Walker received a note with racist overtones in his mailbox around the time of the fire. Investigators couldn't link  Jurado to that note.

After Jurado is released from prison he will have five years of parole and ordered by the judge to stay away from the Walker family.

Thanks to donations the Walker family was able to get a new home. But currently they are in counseling to cope with the depression and anxiety from the incident.
